Sustainability is not just a buzzword for us, but a fundamental principle that guides our actions. As a responsible company, our aim is to protect the environment, conserve resources and make a positive contribution for future generations. Discover how we at Tortec take responsibility and what we do to minimize our ecological footprint.
Our sustainability strategy is based on the highest international standards. We are certified to ISO 14001 (environmental management), ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 50001 (energy management). These certifications underline our commitment to continuous improvement in the areas of environment, quality and energy efficiency.
We create Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for our products. These declarations provide a transparent overview of the environmental impact of our products and support our customers in choosing sustainable solutions.
Since 2020, we have been systematically recording the data to create our carbon footprint. We take all processes into account, from transport logistics in purchasing to logistics in shipping. This enables us to take targeted measures to reduce emissions.
Sustainability product passports were introduced in 2025 in connection with the EPDs. These passports serve as certificates for sustainable construction in accordance with the standards of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). With the sustainability product passports, we want to create a transparent and reliable basis for environmentally friendly construction projects and offer our customers the opportunity to make conscious and sustainable decisions.
We aim to significantly reduce our CO2 emissions by using renewable energy sources and making our processes more efficient:
Since January 1, 2022, we have been sourcing exclusively green electricity from renewable energy sources in Austria at all our locations. This step is an important milestone in our efforts to drastically reduce our CO2 emissions.
The installed capacity of our three photovoltaic systems totals 502 kWp, which covers over 50% of our annual electricity requirements. We are thus sending out a strong signal for the use of renewable energies.
By using modern technologies and optimized production processes, we minimize the consumption of raw materials and energy. In a continuous improvement process, we optimize our packaging sustainably by switching to more environmentally friendly materials and reducing packaging materials. By replacing and reducing bubble wrap, PVC adhesive tape and polystyrene parts with sustainable alternatives, we have been able to reduce our biological footprint and thus protect the environment.
We work closely with our suppliers to source environmentally friendly materials and implement sustainable packaging solutions.
By reusing and recycling packaging materials, we help to reduce waste and conserve resources. We reuse or pass on pallets, packaging boards and polystyrene packaging to minimize waste. Every year, over 10,000 pieces of packaging material are reused in this way.
By returning offcuts from fire protection materials to our suppliers, they can be fully recycled and reintegrated into the production cycle. This enables us to avoid over 250 tons of waste every year and significantly reduce our environmental impact. This approach not only supports our sustainability goals, but also helps us to use resources more efficiently and reduce waste to a minimum.
